Children’s Ancestral Remembrance Parade!Ā  Parents, please plan your child’s participation in costume and in words for our Annual Ancestral Remembrance Parade!!!Ā  We want to see our children honor their ancestors, tell us what they know about that ancestor, and have fun! Wednesday, October 29th at 6:30 p.m.Ā  If you are interested in working with the Parade and Fun Night, please let us know in the CFABS office.Ā  Evening Bible Study will also be that evening with Bro. Akintunde as facilitator.

Grief As An Act of Justice—Our Pool of Blessings…  Family, During this season of Return-Victorious Living, we are exercising the God-given charge of Compassion. Our Ancestors understood how important it was in those times when we experience difficulty, death (in all of its forms) and loss. Please take a moment to receive and/or give compassion at the Pool of Blessings located in the Narthex. Instructions are on the table poster. This dedication prayer ritual will be available through our season of Return. The Center for Afrikan Biblical Studies (CFABS)

AYODELE (The Joy of This House). Our children, youth and teens (CYTs) are the joy of First Afrikan and on THIRD SUNDAYS starting October 19th, 2014, they will fill this Sanctuary with joy as they minister through praise and worship. Ā The Choir under Minister Bennett’s leadership will be rehearsing every SECOND SUNDAY immediately after worship service and 9:00 a.m. on THIRD SUNDAYS before worship service. Parents bring your child(ren) to be a part of this. All returning college students are also welcomed.

Fall Bible Study continues Sunday Afternoons, Wednesday Noon and Evening Bible Study

Christian Theology Class- Christian Theology Course:

The purpose of this course is to teach church members basic Christian doctrine. The course will focus on the persons of the Godhead and briefly examine key Christian doctrines: At the end of the course students will be familiar with

  • Sunday, Nov. 2th The person, nature and character of God
  • Wednesday, Nov. 5th The person, work and ministry of Jesus
  • Sunday, Nov. 9th The person and work of the Holy Spirit
  • Wednesday, Nov. 12th Several key doctrines/teachings of the Christian tradition
  • Sunday, Nov. 16th What the ā€œend timesā€ are

WEEK 11/ ā€œLET’S BURN THE MORTGAGE!! As a part of our becoming debt free, FAC is kicking off a campaign to retire the rehab loan on the Vanessa Knight Building.Ā  We need at least 100 families/people to give $10 per week over and above their normal tithes for 17 weeks starting August 3, 2014.Ā  Please note in the memo section on your checks or on the bottom of the offering envelope ā€œBurn the Mortgageā€.

Keep DeKalb Beautiful will be sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste Cleanup this Saturday October 18th from 8 to 12 noon.Ā  Please bring your used paint, aerosols, batteries, lawn care products, florescent light bulbs, cleaners and swimming pool chemicals to the DeKalb Sanitation Central Transfer Station 3720 Leroy Drive, Decatur GA 30032.Ā  This event is free to DeKalb County residents (must show ID).

The DavisBozeman Law firm are looking for volunteers for the next couple of months from the ages of 16 and up. Kilombo’s Annual Fundraising Dinner is Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 6 pm.Ā  The dinner will be held at the home of Dr. Haiba Sonyika. Please join us for music, good company and fine dining.Ā  Asante sana, thank you First Afrikan for your ongoing support!Ā  As a result of your consistent generosity, Kilombo Academic and Cultural Institute is able to educate our children and employ our people. Kilombo is born out of the vision of First Afrikan Church and the work of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement.Ā  We will be starting a program for 3-4 year olds soon.
