Over a decade ago Renee Gaither graciously made banners displaying the Ankh for First Afrikan. Those banners are color coded and consistent with the First Afrikan liturgical calendar. They hang prominently on the cross in front of the sanctuary. We are so thankful for Renee’s talent and for her offering to the worship life of First Afrikan Church. Brothers Philogene Vilmar and Jihad Uhuru have collaborated on constructing a wooden Ankh to take the place of the cross. The Ankh they’ve created is absolutely beautiful. The First Afrikan Governing Council has approved replacing the cross with the Ankh. The Ankh is a very ancient Kemetic or Egyptian symbol for life and living. It not only predates the cross it also conveys a principle consistent with the message of Jesus and the mission and ministry of First Afrikan Church. There will be a service of dedication once the Ankh is in place. Thank you in advance for your prayerful support.
In the spirit of honoring our ancestors, Creation Care have created beautiful ancestral bricks and benches for purchase. Please contact Sis. Marshall Honeywood for further details
