The Third Ujamaa Exchange (Community Give Away) will take place on April 30, 2016 from 10am -2pm on the church grounds. We are asking you to please bring your extras, your gently used items (clothes, books, household, automotive, electronic goods, etcetera) that could be of use to someone in the community for a FREE exchange. If there is an item that you need…freely give and freely receive. All un-exchanged items will be returned to their owner until the next Ujamaa Exchange. For more information please see Rev. The Southeast Region, National Black Presbyterian Caucus will hold its biennial Conference on July 15-17, 2016 at the Crowne Plaza Jacksonville Airport Hotel, 14670 Duval Road, Jacksonville, FL. We are pleased that we have been able to negotiate an excellent rate of $95.00 per night, per room. In order to receive this rate, you must register for the conference and reserve your room by June 1, 2016.
The conference will begin on that Friday at 1:00pm. The theme is “Responding to the Signs of the Time in the Southeast Region – Trusting in God” (2 Tim. 3:1, 14-17) A planned intergenerational program that we hope will be spiritual, joyful and educational; one that we hope will enhance the spiritual growth of each attendee. Workshop topics include:
Growing Churches/Evangelism
Challenges for African American Congregations (The State of the Church)
Social Justice (Societal Issues Facing the African American Community – guns, drugs, etc)
Church Polity – The Ordination Process; Responding to Marriage Equality
Registration cost is $175.00 for Adults ($200.00 after June 1), and $50.00 for youth and seminary students. This fee includes conference materials, the luncheon on Saturday, and the Lawrence Bottoms Award Banquet. The deadline for registration is June 30, 2016. There will be no on-site registration.
