This year, Father’s Day coincides with Juneteenth, the holiday celebrating African-Americans’ emancipation from slavery. A Biblical Scripture that can be used for “Faith of Our Fathers” or Juneteenth is Genesis 15:13-14. In these verses, God promised our ancestral father Abraham that we’d be strangers in a land and would serve the inhabitants of that land and be afflicted by them for 400 years; but afterwards, God would judge that nation and we would come out with great substance. The British colony that later became the United States of America began its slave trade in 1619. We came out of slavery, but we’re 3 years away from the prophesied 400th anniversary. Do we have enough faith in God to sign a petition for blacks to receive reparations from America? The answer from the majority, in a household of faith, should be a resounding “yes”. Make sure they follow through by signing the petition. Make sure they don’t just talk the talk, but also walk the walk by signing the petition and bringing us closer to the 100,000 needed in order for President Obama to address the issue of reparations before he leaves office. Here’s the link for the petition:https://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net/reparationslaborunion/pages/80/attachments/original/1464582066/Form_for_Petition_for_Reparations_by_Executive_Order-2_(1).pdf?1464582066 and https://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net/reparationslaborunion/pages/80/attachments/original/1464582099/Form_for_Petition_for_Reparations_by_Executive_Order-Horizontal_Mode-Signatures_Only.pdf?1464582099. Mail the completed petitions back to P.O. Box 442487, Detroit, MI 48244 with a cover letter stating which organization and religious leader/lay activist spearheaded your petition drive. Feel free to call me at 313-740-4644 or email me at anita.belle@reparationslaborunion.com if you have questions about the petition.
