Mr.  Clifton Callahan Jr, nephew of Sis Ruth Bobo.

 

Bereavement:

Rev. Elizabeth Charles-Toney, mother of Sis. Wilma Drayton made her transition. Her homegoing service was held on Thursday, November 30th at Nichols Chapel AME Church, Phoenix City, AL.

Ms. Dejah L. Shaw, niece of Min. Lillie Shaw-Lomax made her transition on Friday, November 25th. Dejah’s funeral was Friday, December 2, 2016, at Third Mt. Olive Church in West Point, Mississippi.

Mr. Edward Morgan, Jr, brother of Sis. Tawanna Morgan made his transition. His memorial service was held on Saturday, December 3, 2016.

Mr. John Baynes of Reno, NV, uncle of Sis. Ruth Bobo made his transition on Monday, November 28, 2016.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

TODAY, Sunday, December 4th–During the 10AM Service –Our Children, Our Stories”– Children from ages 4-8 are invited downstairs to the FAC Community Room for storytelling after Harambee until Zawadi time.

Children ages 9-12 are invited downstairs to the FAC community room for roundtable discussion about their place in America. First Afrikan Teens may help facilitate either group.  Contact: Sister Angela Reid.

 

“The First Afrikan family will celebrate our 23rd Church Anniversary on Sunday, December 11th at 10:00 am. God continues to bless our family! The anniversary theme “Wake up, Re-member, Re-store and Re-calibrate” will allow us to honor God, our ancestors and connect with our inter-generational family.  Our guest speaker will be Rev. Robyn Burnett, pastor of Greater Dunn’s Chapel A.M.E. Church in Troy, AL. (One Service Only)

Many thanks to all who helped defeat Governor Deal’s Opportunity School District Plan. It is time to take a proactive stance to build and strengthen our local schools. WE must join with our parents, educators, students, and constituents regarding our next steps. Please join us at our next First Afrikan Community Action Team (FACAT) meeting to advocate for our children. Our next meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at 7:00pm in the community room. The City of Lithonia invites you to their 2016 Annual Tree Lighting Holiday Celebration, Kelly Park (corner of Main St. @ Max Cleland Blvd., downtown Lithonia) Sunday, December 4th,   5:30-6:30pm.  Muhammad Farms will be there from 4-6pm with fresh vegetables and other goods!
