Community Announcements:

VICTORY!!!! UPDATE on the proposed Gasification/Biomass Plant for Lithonia, GA
A Victory for Citizens for a Healthy and Safe Environment! (CHASE) expresses sincere thanks to Rev. Lomax, First Afrikan Church members, friends and supporters for your support as we continue to oppose the devastating gasification plant proposed for the Lithonia area. On Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Board of Commissioner’s voted to cancel the contract with Green Energy Partners. The contract would have allowed the county to sell wood chips and yard waste to the $60 million plant that Green Energy Partners- DeKalb has been trying to build. The plant will not be constructed with a contract from Dekalb County. CHASE will continue to fight Green Energy Partners efforts to build the plant in Lithonia. According to the contract the plant should have been built two years ago. Kudos from CHASE to you!!!
SAVE OUR COMMUNITIES!!!!!! CHASE meets every 3rd Tuesday @ 7:00 PM at the Lithonia Women’s Club, 2564 Wiggins Street, Lithonia, GA 30058

We invite you to join us at one of the foremost gathering of faith-based activists, clergy, congregants, students, and legacy builders at the annual Samuel DeWitt Proctor conference, February 9-12, 2015. An organization founded by three prophetic voices committed to justice through the life, ministry and scholarship of our great ancestor, Dr. Samuel DeWitt Proctor, the Proctor conference brings together those in church leadership engaged in “frontline” justice work and strategic work sessions on specific community, local, national and global change. The focus: Reclaiming Our Moral Authority: Faith and Justice in the Age of Reinvented Empire. Details for registration on the website: www.sdpconference.info and brochures in the CFABS office.
