Fall and Winter Bible Study begins this Wednesday, September 3rd at 1:00pm & 7:00pm. Use the Fall Winter brochure to register and get more details on the classes and other upcoming CFABS experiences. The African Centered Christian Discipleship Curriculum is experienced through three spheres of engagement and study designed to recognize and explore one’s God-given identity (Self)) in Relationship with God and Humanity (Intimacy), and Service to God and Community (Excellence).

Reminder—The last Leadership Mbongi (4 of 4) of the year will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, 9am-12Noon. All elected officers, ministry leaders and ministers are required to attend. Congregation members are welcomed.

Our next Seasoned Women Table Top Conversation will be held on September 8, 2014 at 7:00p.m. At the home of Deacon Roz and Elder Claude Clopton. Let the voices of our children ring out in the Sanctuary. Parent(s)/Guardian(s), you are invited along with your child(ren) to meet with Elder Bennett (FAC – Minister of Music) on Sunday, September 14th, 2014, immediately after the 10:00 a.m. service in the large community room. We are planning to have our Choir once again as our children use their talents to praise the Creator through song. The Nominating Committee is seeking members who are willing to serve the office of Elder or Deacon of First Afrikan Church. If interested, qualifying information is available in the narthex and downstairs on the table across from CFABS office. Paper applications can be submitted to any member of the Nominating Committee. The deadline to submit applications for Elder or Deacon in any venue is Sunday, September 22, 2014. ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD AT THE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING SEPTEMBER 28, 2014

All Current Ministry Chairs: An electronic copy of the qualifying information for newly elected Ministry Chairs will be emailed to you on/by September 6, 2014. In addition, a few copies will be available in
Narthex and downstairs. Please note all ministries should hold elections before October 5, 2014 so the newly elected Ministry Chair will be in place to attend the series of Newly Elected Leadership Training
beginning on October 18, 2014

WEEK Five / “LET’S BURN THE MORTGAGE!! As a part of our becoming debt free, FAC is kicking off a campaign to retire the rehab loan on the Vanessa Knight Building. We need at least 100 families/people to give $10 per week over and above their normal tithes for 17 weeks starting August 3, 2014. Please note in the memo section on your checks or on the bottom of the offering envelope “Burn the Mortgage”.

The Arts Exchange is the Southeast Community Cultural Center, a multicultural, multidisciplinary, intergenerational arts center committed to artists as agents for positive social change.

I (Danielle King) will be collecting NICELY used glasses for a health mission that I’ve been working with Atlanta Montego Bay Sister Cities Health Mission. The health organization has been in existence for 20yrs we offer several health services for the 3 1/2 days where we see over 300 people a day just in optical. It takes place the first week of October every year in St James Parrish Montego Bay and the surrounding countryside. I’m trying to collect as many glasses as possible. These brothers and sister are truly grateful for all the service we provide to them so church I need help in following thru with our mission statement. Doing work in the church community and the world. I will have a box downstairs in the large community room for you to drop your glasses in or just see me if you have any questions. Thank you
